Want to improve your photos but cannot afford a regular photographer? Have a decent phone camera but find your photos often look yellow or just not the best?

Last month, Independent ran a 1 hour a week mobile phone photography course to help Cafe owners boost their food photography skills. We helped Cafe owners find the best spots in their Cafe to take photos in. Gave them tips on the best free apps for editing. Tips on lighting and an assignment to put it to the test. Here are a few of our tips:

1) Natural lighting from the side (e.g.) from a window, is almost always a winner
2) Don’t have natural light? Tweak the ‘warmth’ feature on your phone to the cooler end of the scale to eliminate excessive yellows
3) Rule of thirds- activate the gridlines on your phone and align your photos with the 1/3 portions to keep photos interesting and draw the eye in
4) We highly recommend the following 3 shots: a birds-eye view, close up & mid-shot of your dish
5) Use the macro setting of your phone for close-ups, to capture your dishes in all their glory

Up your photography skills in just 2 hours by booking in a session with us! Our memberships start from just $5 a month.
