Every month, Independent members receive a ready-to-go marketing campaign to excite customers, build the connection and provide a reason to promote themselves. Our ‘Pay it forward’ campaign encouraged people to pass on acts of kindness when received. As I was reviewing our ‘Pay it forward day’ campaign with one of our Cafe’s in Thornton. Lisa happily shared that it was a huge success. Her customers, she divulged- were particularly generous. One man bought 10 Coffees for strangers regularly, this wasn’t only limited to the campaign period. Lisa also told me of a time that one of her customers spilled his Coffee. They made him a new one on the house and he paid it forward. She also told us of a customer who comes in regularly and only ever pays it forward. She never buys a thing for herself. Lisa and the team always make sure to try and give it to particularly vulnerable members of the community and love sharing the positive impact of this with her. This had me reflecting on a habit I’ve been trying to change. I’ve been wanting to stop eating a daily cookie with my Coffee. Perhaps it is time to pay it forward instead?
