Happy customers are your biggest, most loyal advocates.

  1. Disarm them with their name

Refer to them by their name if you know it. This makes them feel valued and more comfortable. I'll make that my priority, Sam' or 'Jane, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention'.

  2. Active listening

Make your customers feel heard by repeating back to them what they said and injecting some empathy. "It must be really frustrating that are in a hurry and we made a mistake with you Coffee. We will try and rectify this as quickly as possible John".

  3. It's about them.

How can they be so rude? When customers are angry, it often is not about you. Allow them to express their frustrations and ensure them that you are doing everything within your power to rectify the situation.

A lot of people can be rude to customers, and it is important for businesses to know how to handle these customers. There are a number of ways that you can deal with rude customers, but the most important thing is not to let them get under your skin and don't take it personally.
